February 24th, 2021 Virtual Maastricht Migration Seminar Series.

1pm/EST (7pm/CET) -

Link to Event

The large-scale protests against racism and police brutality in the United States during the summer of 2020 reverberated across Europe. Migrants and ethnonational minority communities across Europe protested in solidarity and to raise awareness of systematic discrimination at the hands of law enforcement entities throughout Europe. The “racial awakening” on the streets and in universities in the U.S. and across Europe suggest a trans-Atlantic movement for global racial justice may be emerging.

What is the U.S. experience with race and migration, and how does it compare with 21st century Europe?

Join Dr. Ali R. Chaudhary on February 24th in a public seminar to explore this question by discussing the history of race and migration in the United States and how it compares with contemporary Europe.
