I am a sociologist and musician based in New Jersey. I write and teach about race, immigration, politics, nonprofits, and the sociology of music.

I earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California and am currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the flagship New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University in New Jersey. Before coming to Rutgers, I was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford and Junior Research Fellow of Wolfson College-Oxford.

In addition to my research and teaching, I'm an occasional jazz guitarist and perform weekly in the NYC-metropolitan region.
